My experiment with using the willow branches to combat green water continues. I’ve had the branches in my tank for 1 week now. One of the branches got a little rotten looking so I pulled it out. The remaining two look ok, however only one has developed roots. The original article talked about 3-5 days for root growth, so perhaps I have a different type of willow. I also noticed that all the leaves attached to the branches dried up, so it probably make sense to just remove them to start with. So far there has been no real effect on the green water. However the water is not supposed to clear up until a few days with full roots. Here is what the roots currently look like.
