I dropped Gentoo from my eee. I could not get it set up the way I wanted, so I thought I would try something else. Ubuntu has been getting all the good press, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I upgraded from 7.04, which I had been playing with. Everything went pretty smoothly, except for the wired networking. After the upgrade the wired network would not work. A little web searching turning up an odd fix. Unplug the cable, remove the battery and wait for a few seconds. Plug everything back together and it should work. It worked for me. I assume it was some sort of cold reboot of the hardware.

Once that was done, I downloaded the script from http://eee.ricey.co.uk and ran that. It fixed the wifi and the other assorted little issues. So far everything seems good.
